This Privacy Policy describes how MealsMind ("MealsMind", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use:
- the MealsMind mobile application (Android package
com.mealsmind.app, iOS bundle com.mealsmind.app); and
- our website at https://mealsmind.com (including this policy, our Terms of Service, and account-deletion pages).
By using MealsMind, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app or website.
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for your personal information is:

2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of the app, and limited technical data from your device.
2.1 Account and authentication
- Email and password registration: username, email address, and password (stored in hashed form; we never store plain-text passwords).
- Sign in with Google: if you choose Google Sign-In, we receive information from Google such as your name, email address, and Google account identifier, as permitted by your Google account settings.
- Sign in with Apple: on iOS, if you choose Apple Sign-In, we may receive your name and email (or Apple's private relay email, if you hide your email).
2.2 Profile and preferences
- Diet type (e.g. classic, vegan, vegetarian, keto, gluten-free).
- Default portion size, kitchen equipment, cuisine or regional preferences.
- App language, theme, and notification preferences.
- Onboarding choices and AI recipe feedback (e.g. likes/dislikes on suggestions) to improve future recommendations.
2.3 Pantry, recipes, and planning data
- Pantry ingredients (names, quantities, categories, optional expiration dates).
- Saved recipes, meal-plan entries, and shopping-list items you create in the app.
- AI recipe generation history and usage counts (e.g. daily generation limits for free accounts).
2.4 Photos, camera, and voice
- Photos you take or select (e.g. fridge or pantry images) for ingredient detection.
- Voice recordings you submit for speech-to-text ingredient entry.
- Text prompts you send when requesting AI recipes.
Photos and audio are sent to our servers and to Google's AI services for processing. We do not use them for advertising profiling. Raw photos and audio are processed to extract ingredient or recipe data and are not kept indefinitely for unrelated purposes (see Section 7).
2.5 Community content (Premium)
If you use community features, we process recipes or posts you share, likes, reports, and related metadata visible to other users according to your actions in the app.
2.6 Subscriptions and purchases
- We do not receive or store your full payment card number.
- Subscription status, product identifiers, purchase tokens, and renewal information are processed by Google Play, Apple App Store, and RevenueCat (our subscription management partner). We store subscription status on your account (e.g. whether Premium is active) to unlock features.
2.7 Device and technical data
- Device type, operating system version, app version, and language.
- Push notification tokens (via Expo push notification services) to send expiry reminders and service messages you opt into.
- IP address and request logs for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
2.8 Website
Our marketing website does not require an account. We may store your language preference in your browser's local storage. Standard server logs may record IP address, browser type, and pages visited.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- Operate pantry, recipe, meal-plan, and shopping-list features.
- Generate personalized AI recipe suggestions based on your ingredients, diet, equipment, and preferences.
- Process images and voice input for ingredient recognition.
- Send push notifications (e.g. ingredient expiry reminders) when enabled.
- Provide Premium features, including community access and enhanced AI limits.
- Process subscription status via app stores and RevenueCat.
- Improve reliability, security, and product quality (including aggregated or de-identified analytics).
- Respond to support requests and legal obligations.
Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where applicable under GDPR, we rely on: contract (providing the service you requested); legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement); consent (optional notifications, where required); and legal obligation (compliance with law).
4. App Permissions
MealsMind may request the following device permissions. You can deny or revoke them in device settings; some features will not work without them.
- Camera / Photos: scan fridge or pantry items.
- Microphone: voice-based ingredient entry.
- Notifications: expiry and service alerts.
- Internet: required for sync, AI, and account features.
We do not collect precise GPS location for core app functionality.
5. Third-Party Services
We share data with service providers only as needed to operate MealsMind. They process data under contractual obligations and their own privacy policies:
- Google Gemini API — AI processing of text, images, and audio for recipes and ingredient detection. Google Privacy Policy

- Google Play / Apple App Store — in-app purchases and subscriptions.

- Cloud hosting providers — secure storage of account and app data on servers we control.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. AI Processing
AI-generated recipes and nutrition estimates are automated suggestions, not professional advice. Content you submit to AI features (text, photos, voice) may be processed by third-party AI providers. Do not submit sensitive personal data unrelated to cooking. We may retain prompts and outputs linked to your account to provide history, enforce usage limits, and improve quality.
7. Data Storage, Retention, and Security
Data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are hashed. We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards.
Retention:
- Account data is kept while your account is active.
- After account deletion (in-app or via Delete Account), personal data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days, except where we must retain data for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes.
- Server logs and security records may be kept for a limited period.
- Backup systems may retain deleted data until overwritten (typically within 30–90 days).
8. International Data Transfers
MealsMind is operated from Turkey. Your data may be processed in Turkey, the European Union, the United States, or other countries where our providers host infrastructure. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers from the EEA/UK.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or update your data (via in-app Settings).
- Delete your account and associated data (Delete Account or email info@mealsmind.com).
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability (a copy of your data in a common format, on request).
- Opt out of push notifications in device or app settings.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (EEA/UK) or the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).
We will respond to verified requests within the timeframes required by applicable law (typically within 30 days).
9.1 Turkey (KVKK)
If you are in Turkey, you have rights under Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK), including learning whether your data is processed, requesting correction or deletion, and learning about third parties to whom data is transferred. 9.2 EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)
You have the rights listed above under GDPR. Our legal bases are described in Section 3. For EU-related inquiries, contact info@mealsmind.com.
9.3 California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may request disclosure of categories of personal information collected, deletion, and confirmation that we do not sell personal information. Email info@mealsmind.com with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line.
10. Children's Privacy
MealsMind is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the new version on this page with an updated date. For material changes, we may notify you through the app or by email. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
